WAG and the ITALIAN CONNECTION

www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqsD-Hh7F8A

The trials and tribulations of Greece’s abused and abandoned dogs continue as they remain confiscated in Italy by a crew of misdirected, motley morons, thanks to the rampant paranoia of a few misguided and intellectually starved Greek citizens.  For more, go to: www.wagny.net

A FRACTURED NATION

Bosnian Mom and Pups

Dedicated to cherished animal activist Lejla, whose cries and prayers for help for the animals in her nation have long been ignored!

Brutality and neglect are escalating, perpetuating and undermining the concept of ”humanity” in every corner of the globe

“Personal agendas”, political correctness, fear of alarming “trustees”, hackneyed diplomacy, and radical nationalism are rampant; and should never enter into the battle equation to enhance the protection and preserve the dignity of all animals.

This abandoned mother was viciously beaten and then murdered by a heavy round of bullets to her head. Helpless and mindless, her frantic pups “suckle death” in a futile attempt at survival; unaware of their mother’s “departure” and their fate.

But let us not call a spade a spade. Let us tiptoe quietly amongst carefully chosen words and in our “political correctness,”  let us whisper our frustration into our own ears.

This brutalized animal and “her orphaned offspring” are WAG New York’s “poster child.”  May this tragic image, captured in a fractured Balkan nation, be a reminder that our attempts to access a higher level of evolution have gone astray in a labyrinth of aggression, violence, disrespect, jealously, lawlessness, fear, and greed.

May this agonizing icon be a vivid reminder to those who perpetually adhere to a “delicate diplomatic protocol” as they exercise humanity, disseminate advice, fund raising literature, very measured amounts of money and worry about their paychecks: some from behind a desk.

This pitiful and heartrending example of human cruelty adds pure rocket fuel to our fire, every moment of every day. Rise up, be heard, and join WAG (www.wagny.org).

Overlook the restrictive boundaries of geography and determine when to ignore the constraints of diplomacy.

Animals suffer horribly at the hands of those standing on two feet, die within the borders of inhumanity and without “diplomatic” passports.

REGARDING CHINA and A LEADER WITH GUTS

Nicolas Sarkozy became the first world leader to suggest that he might boycott the Beijing Olympics yesterday as Britain and France increased the pressure on China over Tibet. President Sarkozy signalled that he may stay away from the opening ceremony in August unless the Chinese authorities exercised restraint in dealing with the Tibetan independence movement and opened talks with the Dalai Lama. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office yesterday hit out at China’s “violations” in Tibet and the “disappointing” lack of progress towards a peaceful resolution. Pitiable that the Leaders of the Free World do not possess the moral and ethical convictions to proclaim a “Boycott” of the China Olympics.  But then again, in retrospect, I can clearly see why! It has something to do with money, the power that drives and governs our society.

CHINA IN THE NUDE

The planet surrenders and succombs to insatiable gluttony and the fatalities, regardless of venue or time, are the innocent, the defenseless, the wordless.

The collective “monarch of money”, made, extorted, misappropriated, “laundered” and spent recklessly is the multinational conglomerate of corporate greed and the politicians who pander to wealth.  (Fine examples are the International Olympic Committee and it’s major Corporate sponsors, example Coca Cola,  which have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into this athletic “money fest”.)

Add brutality and cultural callousness, an oxymoron to be sure, to the noxious blend and you survey a mega monster, driving any semblance of humanity to the ostensible end of it’s road.

In light of but certainly not in honor of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, let us highlight China, the “sleeping dragon” who breathes fire even in her slumber.

Her ongoing record of grisly human rights violations illuminates the night sky and the stars pale in comparison; yet the Western world yawns in boredom. shrugs a giant shoulder and continues to gaze distractedly at the massacre in the Sudan and the mounting atrocities in Tibet.  Do we yet again, as a collective humanity dodge our moral duty to halt another human holocaust?

Of course, China’s multibillion dollar investments in the Sudan’s petroleum industry takes precedence over humanity and “oil” will assuredly win the “gold”.

The world’s ethically compromised leaders have clearly lost their moral compass and no amount of deception, mollifying, or vacant rhetoricwill camoflage the indisputable fact that they are descending into and seeking counsel in the uncharted depths of hell.

Human advocacy groups from every corner of this exhausted  globe abound and yet their pleas for mercy for the human victims of torment and misery have had little if any effect.

So what hope lies for the animals of China, the blameless victims of godless behaviour and “cultural” ignorance, as the hungry “dragon” awakens, brutalizes and slaughters them by the hundreds of thousands?

CHINA UNMASKED

dragon.jpg

Taoism, Buddhism, Confucius, Mao and the “Great Wall”!  An ancient civilization and a mystifying culture paints its traditions onto a contemporary and historical landscape. As China cleverly insinuates its development and export extravaganza into every corner of the globe, it strives to post a position in the modern day Mecca of power and prosperity. The world will naively welcome the highly publicized 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, masquerading as exercises in global camaraderie, good will and international sportsmanship.Eminent domain, the forced removal, and relocation of the Chinese people, the obliteration of deathbed human rights and humane activism add to the horror of the billions shamelessly expended on this money fest of corporate greed and unremitting competition.  Synchronously, the games will only serve to perpetuate a flourishing practice in China – the merciless slaughter of millions of abused and abandoned dogs and cats, the innocent and vulnerable victims of “cultural” brutality, ignorance, and greed.  Be forewarned! As China takes center position on the global stage, the world’s spotlight and keen vision will illuminate a bonfire of reality on the fundamentals of China’s humanity which is miserably and perhaps irrevocably missing from China’s public relations self portrait of a friendly, emerging powerhouse. China’s ruthless and extended history of harshness towards her own people, including her deliberate, unconcealed, and unpardonable brutality and viciousness towards the animals that share her land, in vulnerability and innocence, will secure momentous consequences.

Graphic media coverage and the first hand testimony of heart wrenching animal cruelty, makes obvious, that humane posturing by national, and local government officials and citizens alike,  fall into the zone of dismal failure.   Most assuredly, the deadly partnership between China and the Sudan shall ever remain a symbolic image of China’s principles.  Millions have fled their homes in Darfur and face the threat of starvation, disease and rape, as well as the hundreds of thousands still in their homes who are at risk of displacement, torture and death.  The press in light of the 20008 “Games”, is now muting the role that China plays in the violation of human rights. Therefore, once again “Sleeping Dragon”, be forewarned. The hundreds of millions of people around the world, who breathe compassion and humanity, will collectively ignite the fire of BOYCOTT, not only of the 2008 Beijing Olympics but of every conceivable tourist ploy and “Made in China” product.  United and relentless, we will illuminate the face of China and bring shame to her “house”, where nestled amongst the brutality, evil has found a home.
