AMERICA

DECLINE, DESCENT, FALL
Marijo Anne Gillis (June 2006)

Illegal aliens, side by side with their bleeding heart liberal organizers, creep from undercover and arrogantly march in demand of rights.

The media milks the heinous “boot camp death, reminding us of our inherent violence.

The CIA is in turmoil and we are still and always at war.

The human cancer Zacarias Moussaou and his fundamentalist spawn of the devil are giving us the third finger salute. The jurors who passed sentence are quite obviously missing chromosomes. They screwed up royally and gave this diseased and rancid soul freedom from an express exit to eternity in the “real” hell.

Darfor continues in the global shadow of indifference and slave trade continues. Our government spins fairy tales. Aberrant and spine chilling weather changes and disasters are evident and ransack the globe. Rampant corporate and even judicial corruption metastasizes. Unnatural infant death rates are on the rise as well as brutal child, elder and animal abuse. Schools are battlegrounds.

Greedy and senseless network giants and movie moguls plaster the big screens with porn. The television and print media is obsessively preoccupied with the pathetic likes of “heiress airhead” Paris Hilton and wackadoo celebrities such as Tom Cruise and the pathetic Brangelina circus. They have yet to discern that most of us with cerebral function don’t give a damn.

Yet, they may be altruistically bombarding us with this trash for the purpose of comic relief from the rigors of the real world. Is it any wonder that America the Beautiful and the Star Spangled Banner are on their way down the path of destruction? (and yes, our national anthem should be sung in English and not Spanglish or any other language and yes illegal aliens should either drag their non speaking English butts home or get with the program and pay taxes and stop overtaxing our schools, prisons and hospitals on the backs and sweat of Americans.)

Is it any wonder that the rest of the world rolls their eyeballs when confronted with American issues? Does anyone doubt that her heartbreaking decline will not be due to a terrorist attack or an enemy missile” .

Our country’s fall will originate from within her core and her collective diminution in faith in a creator, personal and family values and mores, nationalistic pride, honesty, honor, loyalty, respect, integrity, compassion, sympathy, empathy. Let us not forget the surge in the indiscriminate use of earth’s natural resources and their financial manipulation for commercial gain by global scum.

Lastly and sorrowfully is our non adherence to the values set forth by our forefathers and practiced by our Creator.

We are becoming a moral and social outrage. I love America with my all my heart and with all my soul and I would bear arms to protect and save her but I hope I miss the final descent.

WAG NY WHERE ARE YOU CHRYS?

It is a dismal day for Greek animals when theoretically intelligent government officials deny the existence of a tragedy.  That catastrophic tragedy in human form, is Chryssa Dile, the Ministry of Agriculture veterinarian and her “civilian associate,” animal welfare obstructionist, Ms. Ioanna Garagouni.

They are two of an ever growing militia of seemingly ultra nationalists and zenophobes, determined to preserve their Greek pride at critical cost to Greek animals Viewed in abstract form, the corresponding calamity is Greek animal “protection” law 3170 – 2003, a rigid and unyielding tool manufactured in haste and fashioned from regrettable recommendations.

The tragic victims of obsessive compliance to certain articles within this legal mandate, are the voiceless; those who carry no defensive weapons and apparently have few allies in government.

The incompetence, lack of leadership, and obvious apathy to investigate, moderate or restrain employee actions within an entire Ministry of Agriculture has facilitated two obstructionists to wreak havoc on animal welfare in a country well known internationally, for its brutality and neglect.

The Ministry of Agriculture, resolute in it’s ridiculous stance, (detailed on the site below) has even created diplomatic blunders with aligned nations.

This demolition derby of animal welfare and its proponents and the cruel attempts to paralyze the efforts of animal custodians in Greece borders on the immoral. The death of animals caught up in this tangled web of obsession, nationalism and xenophobia is indeed a grave tragedy, shall rest on the shoulders of those mentioned above and shall be stamped in history.

We urge the office of the Prime Minister and authorities in all relevant sectors of Greek government to investigate the dreadful and destructive conditions within the Ministry of Agriculture and to reconcile a deplorable situation.

A Ministerial Decree can reconcile a calamity for the animals, their care givers and for the tarnished image of Greece throughout the world.  For more information, access the site below!Marijo Anne GillisWAG NYhttp://www.wagny.net/

WAG NY GHOSTS OF THE CITY

Ghosts of the City is a poignant masterpiece that will most certainly endure as a striking tribute and a heartrending testimony to the tens of millions of innocent and brutalized animals around the world who suffered indefensible torment and to those inestimable, vulnerable and innocent dogs who are discarded every day,in the isolated, lonely and hostile forests of Turkey .

This powerful and touching documentary film is also a living tribute to persons who thumb their collective noses at political power plays, religious fundamentalism, social position, hefty bank accounts, unsuitable nationalism and political correctness.

We implore the viewers of this work of heart to reflect and we urge those in positions of power to call forth a renaissance of human compassion, empathy  and effect an enlightened and progressive blueprint to once and for all alleviate the misery of animals in Turkey and the anguish and despair of those who protect them.

WAG NY “EVERYONE’s CHILD”

WHEN: 7th April 2007
WHERE: Bashika, Iraqi Kurdistan
VICTIM: Du’a Aswad Khalil (photo attached), age 17. A second-year art student.
Was stoned to death by her brother, uncle and cousins, who beat her and crashed her spine and skull with concrete blocks in front of a bestial crowd of 2000 ‘men’ that were cheering and recording the murder on their mobile phones. Police officers were present in the scene but just watched. Nobody- NOBODY- helped her. When Du’a died, they dragged her body in the streets, as if she was some sort of trophy.

NOBODY WAS EVER ARRESTED.

Today this message is being sent to people around the world by those of us that have come together to pay our respects to a beautiful 17 year old girl that was brutally stoned to death  on April 7th, a year ago. This is the first anniversary of Dua Khalil Aswad’s death. As a friend, I ask only that you give me two minutes of your time – just two minutes, if you have not heard about Dua Aswad, briefly, she was a victim of another honor killing, there are approximately 5000 per year throughout the world.

Dua was not a victim of the war in Iraq although she was from the town Bashika in Iraqi Kurdisan, she was stoned to death by her brother and uncle and cousins in front of a cheering crowd of 2000 ‘men’ that were filming the ‘event’ on their mobile phones, a group of Yazidi (a Middle Eastern religion with ancient Indo-European roots) extremists that forbids a relationship outside of that faith. If you would like to know more about Dua, I am printing below an article that was published in a newspaper in the US describing Dua’s murder.

However, I know some of you may not have the time to read this but we are asking everyone around the world to take a moment and go to the following site and sign the petition against stoning of women in Kurdistan.

There is no obligation, you do not have to put your full name down if you prefer not to, your email is safe and will not be distributed, we only ask that you do this now – today, currently there are 14,875 signatures, it is our way of showing people around the world that have been so devastated by her murder that she has not been forgotten.

Because we cannot go to her simple unmarked grave covered with rocks and lay a rose, instead we are gathering together and signing this petition, in the comment area simply write “we will never forget you Dua” that is all I am asking.

Please, we cannot bring Dua back, she was another innocent victim whose life was taken in such a brutal way, it is time we quit closing our eyes to these atrotcies, please forward this email to everyone on your contact list – just like you do when you want to share something important with your friends – please, as a friend, pass this on to as many people as possible.

No one will be showing up on your door at midnight with a grand prize, no one will bring you luck at work tomorrow but you will be doing one thing – you just may be passing this information on to the one person that can make a difference – we don’t know who that person is but we will not stop our efforts until these crimes cease, we must continue to spread the word:No More Honor Killings – No More Stonings – Help these people – In Dua’s name – sign the petition and pass this on – thank you!:

and sign the petition – even if you have signed before – sign again and write the following comment:

*** under comment write:
“We will never forget you Dua”

The conference in London in Rembrance of Dua Aswad and other honor killing victims is April 12th, we want to present a number to them to let them know how many people signed this petition on or before Dua’s one year anniversary – April 7th – please do this as soon as possible and pass this email on – thank you!
Remembering Dua Aswad ~ Everyone’s Child                                                                                Roanoke Times & World News

“As the sun went down the tombs cast long shadows over the village cemetery, Badi’aa Aswad threw herself on the mud grave of her 17-year-old daughter, Dua, and howled. “Come to Mama, Dua,” she cried, caressing the plain concrete headstone. “The last thing you told me was that you were hungry. Come home. Let me cook and feed you.” Disturbed by the sobbing, a passerby offered water in the hope of soothing her but Aswad screamed that she could not drink a drop. “Dua is thirsty,” she shrieked, directing the stranger to pour the contents of her water bottle over the dusty grave instead.”
Last year on April 7th Dua Aswad was stoned to death by a mob in the Kurdish village of Basshiqa, was she just another casualty of the Iraq war? No. Dua was a casualty of another “honor killing” a term used as an excuse to murder someone because they have brought dishonor to the family. Honor killings are a cultural atrocity acted out by ignorant people. There are approximately 5000 honor killings each year throughout the world including the US. Dua was a member of the Yazidi sect in Iraq that forbids a relationship outside their faith. Dua, a fine arts student at a local college in Iraq tried to break away from this tradition and fell in love with someone of her own choosing. For this Dua paid the ultimate price. Her uncle found out that Dua was involved with a Muslim and decided she should be murdered, her father said no and sent Dua to a shelter. The uncle took matters into his own hands and went to the shelter dragging her out in a headlock to the center of town where over 1000 men were waiting. They stripped Dua’s clothes from her body to humiliate her, threw her to the ground and began kicking her in the face, head, chest, between her legs as she screamed out in agony. She reached out and begged for help, not one person came forward. Not one. Instead they picked up large stones and hurled them into her face, head, chest, while continuing to beat and kick her. Cell phones were seen filming this horror, the video clip I watched scanned the crowd, men were packed shoulder to shoulder chanting and cheering like it was a sporting event screaming “kill her kill her”, Dua tried to sit up and was kicked in the chest slamming her back down. This brutal murder lasted over 30 minutes. They would pick up an arm or leg and if there was any sign of life they would kick and stone her more. Finally as Dua laid lifeless on the ground they picked her up by her arms and legs – stretched out like a prized animal and paraded her through town. This innocent 17 year old was someone’s child, someone’s sister, someone’s love. Her family grieves, her mother sits by a pile of dirt covered with a few stones and cries out for her daughter, she caresses the dirt remembering Dua’s last words to her “momma I’m thirsty and hungry” before she was dragged away to be murdered.

Why do I care about Dua? This was a world away, not my problem, she deserved it right? Wrong! Dua was another innocent victim of this crime referred to as “honor killing”, Dua did nothing wrong, when the video was uploaded to the internet and circulated around the world within days the world protested and demanded action, only then did the Kurdish authorities dig up Dua’s body and send it off to a lab to see if she was a virgin, when tests confirmed she was only then did they charge 4 people – out of the thousand only four. They were not arrested, only charged. I will never forget those images of Dua struggling so hard to get up, begging for help, how can people be so cruel, how can so many people let this happen without stepping forward to help an innocent child? What kind of society lets this happen over and over? What can we do? One way is to encourage international pressure to put a stop to these killings. Last May hundreds of mourners gathered together and threw roses into the River Thames in London to remember Dua, we cannot do that but we do ask that on April 7th in honor of Dua Aswad who represents all victims of honor killings wear a white ribbon or light a candle in her memory. Thank you – and bless you Dua, we will always remember – you are not forgotten as you are now everyone’s child! For more information on Dua and honor killings go tohttp://www.stophonourkillings.com/?name=Content&pid=44

EVOLUTION WAG NY

However much our species evolves via science and technology, many, many years will pass before the human race evolves into a compassionate and gentle order.

Driven by arrogance, greed, narcissism, jealousy, religious fanaticism, hate and a lack of compassion, spiritual confidence and God, many humans continue to plague the peace and dignity of the voiceless.

The sight of animals suffering and dying at the hands of man and the consequence of man’s quest for superiority and expansion in this world and beyond, impact animal activists in a way that is indescribable and incomprehensible to most others.

It is the responsibility of those of us who are in synch with their misery to posture as beacons of light in their darkness. We must track and police the human evolutionary journey to decency.

Barely a whisper of the past is the memory of thousands of abandoned and abused animals who shed their blood and died as a result of the August 2004 Athens Olympic housecleaning task force.

Recently, chilling reality struck a hard blow to the Greek nation as media networks around the world broadcast in Technicolor and surround sound, the raging fires that consumed Greece this August.  Is it ironic that flames engulfed Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games?   Who and what will catalyze a world wide protest to those promoting the quest for the Olympic “gold”, and self aggrandizement in China; the “sleeping dragon”?

We are all too familiar with the “cultural” eating habits of some Chinese and their recent bloodthirsty protocol for dealing with the threat of rabies.

I for one, disregard the “customs and culture” theory as an excuse for spiritual ignorance and worse, indifference.

The sight of animals suffering and dying at the hands of man and the consequence of man’s quest for superiority and expansion in this world and beyond, impact many of us activists in a way that is indescribable and incomprehensible to most others.

It is the responsibility of those of us who are in synch with their misery to posture as beacons of light in their darkness.

We must track and police the human evolutionary journey to decency. There are two forces in the world that regulate the life force; that of good and that of evil.  Everything that happens to our society and in our world is mediated by one or the other.

Let us all join forces to rehabilitate the actions and reputation of “man” and craft a message to the world that animal abuse, neglect and exploitation is not acceptable.  This does not take a complex evolution of moral thought. This is a process to keep humanity from nose diving into oblivion.

CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR

The brutal treatment of companion, farmed and zoo animals in Serbia has horrified the civilized world.

Serbia ‘s  indiscriminate cruelty, indifference , and dysfunction regarding the mass slaughter of animals iscriminal. As Serbia sits poised to undergo scrutiny for membership in the EU,negative publicity could very well result in a rejection from EU membernations.

The Serbian gross national product undoubtedly depends on theinflux of money from foreign tourism and commerce.  Compassionate travelerswho wish to spend tourist dollars will undoubtedly choose otherdestinations.  Civilized people everywhere are likely to boycott Serbia.

We urge Serbian officials to take immediate action to resolve thisreprehensible situation, and put an end to the brutal, vicious killing ofabandoned companion animals by government officials, civil workers andordinary citizens.

In order to restore the Serbian reputation within the global family, we urgethe Serbian government to:

1.  Request the aid of professional animal welfare organizations in order tobring about reform by planning and implementing humane welfare initiatives, including spay / neuter programs and humane education in the schools.

2. Request assistance in the design, implementation and enforcement ofcoherent animal protection legislation. Effect prosecution and punishmentfor perpetrators of animal related crimes.

It is obvious from photographic and film evidence that Serbia is incapableof tending properly to her zoo animals.

We therefore urge Serbian officialsto confer with experts in the field of  humane care and management ofconfined species. We urge the Serbian government to consider it’s highly criticized global position and take a civilized stance regarding animal welfare.
