THE STRENGTH OF MANY

“In the United States, the animal rights movement has achieved momentous moral and practical victories in the last two decades.  The voices of its supporters have grown from anguished cries to shouts of triumph as we have realized innumerable successes year after year. Animal protection advocates have raised the collective consciousness of the entire nation regarding the use and abuse of animals in all segments of society.

We have created these amazing achievements by our sheer will and ability to communicate and work “together” as one force.“This, my friends is the secret to success. Unity is strength and strength is power and power brings change.  If we all march to the tune of our own drummer, we march in different directions and wind up at a dead end, without destination, without victory. “Our social justice struggle in America has much in common with those that have come before. American history has proven time and again that although human beings are capable of inflicting unspeakable atrocities on members of our own and other species, we are likewise capable of righting our wrongs.“As Tom Regan so eloquently states in his book, Empty Cages:“

Our faith in a better world is deeply rooted in history. There was a time when many thought it was utopian, unrealistic and hopeless to achieve equal rights for Native Americans, African Americans, women, the mentally challenged or the physically disabled…. Nevertheless, the verdicts of history teach that entrenched social practices not only can change, they have changed. ..but never without a struggle.

Please, I urge, no I beg everyone to release whatever fears you have to speak out, to act, to join together as one force, and  join hands, hearts and minds in a collective unity and power that will finally silence those voices of destruction and bring a voice and monumental justice to those intolerably suffering creatures, the companion, farmed, captive and wild animals of the world.

IN THEIR MEMORY,  I BEG YOU!  Marijo
